Well-marked public footpaths start from the house. Harstad and Narvik each have restaurants, shops and a ski resort; Harstad has the Grottebadet indoor water park. The Polar Zoo is about an hour's drive. Narvik's war history, the wrecks of Ofoten and the Sami culture of the area are all close by. The local supermarket is well stocked and the petrol station has a pub that serves food.
